On-line Review of Aaron's Statement of Beliefs Document

Aaron (with assistance from others) has prepared two documents for our review.  The second document below is in response to a request made to him by others in the group that he draft a "Statement of Core Beliefs" for our review.  The first document below explains what resources Aaron used to prepare the Statement and why he's structured it the way it is.

A Comment from Jane (3-24):

Yes!! The story of Jesus life, death, resurrection and ascension is the climax of the drama of redemption which started in Genesis. The entire old testament points us forward to the main character of the drama Jesus Christ, God's son.

At the very top of page two where you say God covenanted with them I think it is important to say:

When God made his covenant with Abraham God walked alone between the halved animals which said "If I, the Lord God, fail to keep my covenant let me be cut like these animals".

God took responsibility for both sides of the covenant. God promises to be the God of Abraham and his descendents (those who follow Jesus Romans 4) and God is faithful.

Thus Jesus took the place of God's covenant breaking people and died like the cut animals (punishment for sin) As substitute Jesus also took their place as promise keeper obeying God's law perfectly.

Jesus continues to act through his church of which he is head. The Father rules through Jesus.

Though aliens were always welcome to join God's people, and were to be cared for, God's promises were now more clearly extended to people of all nations.
